Helicopter (Aerial Screw)It is said that Leonardo's sketches were the predecessor of the modern day Helicopter. His idea of the 'airscrew' was a device able to compress air to obtain flight which was powered by four men turning cranks on a central platform. His device was 15 feet long and made of reed, linen and wire. Although he never built this invention, his detailed sketches and notes provided all the information needed for it to be built.

![Picture](/uploads/8/4/7/6/84762064/ideal-city.jpg?250)
After the plague had wiped out most of Milan's citizens, Leonardo wanted to create a city that had better services and sanitation to prevent the spread of future diseases and used his talents as an artist, architect engineer, and inventor to create the ideal city. His city contained a series of connected canals to be used as a sewage system. It would feature upper and lower levels; the lower levels would contain the canals for tradesman and travelers, while the upper level would consist of broad roads for 'gentleman'. The city would contain elegant buildings with large arches and pillars, fresh air vents in buildings, and special stables for horses.
